Sylvia Carón has been working in clay for over 25 years.
Primarily self-taught, she has advanced her skills through the generosity of
fellow potters along the way. Sylvia also had the opportunity to teach
pottery classes at the Arts and Skills Development Center on the U.S. Air Force
Academy in Colorado Springs for four years. That experience allowed
Sylvia to share her love for the craft with so many others and helped enhance
her expertise and confidence.
Since retiring, Sylvia and her husband built their dream home
in the Wet Mountains south of Cañon City, Colorado. She works from her
home studio and devotes the majority of her time to her craft,
developing her skills and establishing her small business, Carón
Pottery.
Sylvia also enjoys being an active part of the burgeoning art
community in Cañon City. Her association with many of the talented
artists in the area is a continuing source of inspiration and camaraderie.
